For the energy sector, signals a shift away from the previous focus on the energy trilemma; affordability vs security vs low carbon is no longer the lens through which energy policy will be viewed. Instead, the future will be focussed around affordability ‘for households and businesses’ and ‘securing the industrial opportunities for the UK economy of energy innovation’.

Envisioning a new future for energy and update energy networks will play a major role in the government’s new vision, with the industrial strategy setting out a clear need to modernise the system in a way that minimises cost to the tax payer, businesses and consumers.
